HOW IT CAME TO BE….

It all began in 1966 when I met Richard Alpert, (who would later become Baba Ram Dass). At that time he and Timothy Leary were traveling around the country promoting the benefits of LSD as a way of finding spiritual enlightenment. I read Ram Dass’ BE HERE NOW in 1971 and was inspired by that amazing book ….. and it changed my life. "Be Here Now" was the great gift he gave to all spiritual seekers.

The idea to create my DO IT NOW BOOK & CLOCK came to me in 1971 but it took 37 years for the TIME to be right for it to come to fruition.

After reading “The Power of NOW” by Eckhart Tolle, I knew the world was ready and it was the right time. I contacted Sterling Publishing in NY. They agreed that NOW was the TIME to put out the “DO IT NOW BOOK & CLOCK KIT” and it’s my hope that it will inspire all those spiritual “bloomers” out there to stay PRESENT in the NOW……

For those of us who need a push now and then, Jim McMullan has the right recipe: read some of the pithy phrases and quotes he provides, repeat them a few times... and then get something done and do it on time! 'There is nothing so fatal to character as half-finished tasks,' said former Bristish Prime Minister David Lloyd George (quoted in the book) and McMullan underscores it in his special 'Do It Now' chapter - the package is a book-clock combo with the clock face (it actually works, too!)reminding us what the book spells out in quoted comment after quoted comment: Live in the Moment, Do it Now!

The idea of combining a clock with urgings from the great minds of history regarding seizing the moment and forgetting about procrastination is a remarkable one. This book by Jim McMullan is inspiring and fun as well. It's the kind of thing that one should buy in advance for holiday gifts. Why the hell would you wait?
